BBC Manchester End Of The Line 2001.flv

The BBC closed its Manchester “New” broadcasting house, in Oxford Road, in Dec 2011. Found in one of the areas, known as CTA, this VHS shows when the last major closure at the BBC in Manchester happened in 2001, with the shut down of the “OB” or outside broadcast units. This was made to commemorate the staff who had been there over the decades.
The BBC moved some of its London and Manchester services to new studios at Salford that month, in 2011. Music by The Traveling Wilburys.
This is a traditional “Look Back” at old times by the engineering crews of the era.

The contrast between the BBC “Looking Back”, and SKY’s “no turning back” could not be starker. (May 2012) OOOps now it seems all comments have been banned by someone. What are they afraid of?
