The Irish Era of Pirate radio was one of the single most creative and important eras in broadcasting, where Radio Caroline, and the explosive creativity of Ireland’s youth came of age. Part of this huge social change within an ultra conservative backward thinking Ireland, was this huge Forward thinking talent wave. Radio Nova, and its sister station Kiss-FM102.7, was where it was at for late 1970s into the 1980s.

Bob Gallico, Rip 2013, was part of the creative genius of Radio Nova,. found by former Radio Caroline, and Radio Nordsee International, Chris Cary. Cary and Robbie Dale came a shore in late 1979 and started Sunshine Radio in Portmarnock, Dublin. As things evolved Radio Nova came of age. Both were raided in a catastrophic political miscalculation in May 1983.Nova switched on its huge 50,000watt AM transmitter, now covering well in the UK, England, and night-time skip into Europe.

Miles Johnston devoted his free time, as he worked for the BBC, in Belfast, recording it as it evolved VHS had its limitations, as tube cameras had.
This lost interview also introduces young Portadown talent, Stephanie Callister (Steffi), who was to get her own show on BBC NI television, and soon snapped up by SKY News in 1989. This is where KissFM beached in the British Isles, from LA.
An audio connector fault rendered this interview useless. BUT the linear dual track sound could only be played on very few “dual track linear audio”. Eventually Miles was able to get one of these machines, so now its possible to hear Bob, talk about his career.
His breakfast show host was Declan Meehan who features in a short clip ahead of the interview. This the Term “Brekkie Trekkie” which features Bobs wise cracks and features. Bob was to pass in 2013. So The Irish Era Presents this rare interview, with its clicks and pops.

YouTube has completely globally banned this series of Raw camera tapes.
